Volunteering & Getting Involved

Picture
The farm is a great place for people of all ages and abilities. We have now settled into a more regular schedule of activities for volunteer days at the farm: from feeding animals, to bed preparation and compost making, to planting, tending, harvesting and more---we do it all!

As more vegetables start coming up, on farm activities will diversify even more and will become an even greater places for all ages to adventure and taste. If you wish to bring your children down to volunteer or just to play around in the field while you do, that works fine too!

Interested in volunteering on other days of the week? Check out our internship program, or volunteer at Seeds at City College on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9am-noon.

Also, visit the websites of our parent non-profit San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project and our sister organization Victory Gardens San Diego for more volunteering opportunities.

--------------------------------------------------------

Open Volunteering on Saturdays from 1-5pm: You'll get to work with Wild Willow Farm Interns and farm manager Misha. WWF is an educational farm, so there's no experience required, and we'll teach you everything you need to know to be involved. Don't hesitate to ask us any questions, and we're happy to offer advice for your home gardens when time permits. You'll have the opportunity to be involved with the large variety of activities we do every day: from caring for our animals (goats, chickens, and ducks), to planting and propagation, compost making, bed preparation and much much more.

    RSVP Form

***Note our extended warm season hours. We now go until 5pm!

We strongly recommend you RVSP within the week before the volunteer day you wish to attend. This helps us be better prepared with activities for your time on the farm and to alert you of any scheduling changes, such as rain cancellation.

DO NOT EXPECT a confirmation email from us. We will contact you if there are any issues regarding the volunteer day.

Recommended Attire: Closed-toe shoes/boots, broad-brimmed hat, pants, long sleeves, sunscreen, gloves. Bring some WATER too!

Weather: Rain cancels, and if you RSVP we'll be sure to let you know as much ahead of time as possible. Generally, it does not usually get too hot on the farm as we have an almost constant breeze from the ocean during the day. The evenings can become cool once the sun goes down. Bring layers.

We will be sure to alert you of any important schedule changes and respond to any queries in a timely manner.
